How we work & Why it works!
Entering a custom packaging project means that our team will closely collaborate with you to understand your challenges, needs and wishes. We will also learn about your brand and customers before entering the design process. During this process there will be several touchpoints to ensure that our solutions align with your expectations and to provide a packaging solution that fully suits your brand and products.
During a custom design project we usually go through the following phases:
After you enquire about a custom project, we will arrange a call or face to face meeting to get to know each other. This way we can learn about your brand, products and get a better understanding of your packaging challenges and desired outcome.
And of course this is also great opportunity for you to meet our team and learn more about our Rollor Packaging approach. After the meeting we will work out a personalised project proposal for you.
Once we have agreed on the project proposal, our design team will get started. Depending on the type of project we might ask you to send your products to us, so that we can integrate them into the design process from the start.
This is especially helpful if your products have a unique shape or are very fragile.
Our design process is typically split up into 3 stages: discovery, concept refinement and detailing for production.
- Discovery Stage: We approach every project with an open mind to encourage creative problem solving. During the discovery phase we analyse your products and needs (and if applicable your current packaging) and come up with a variety of ideas and concepts. We work with a hand-on mentality and will create lots of cardboard mock-ups during this phase. These will be presented to you at the end of this stage and together we will decide which concept will be further worked out in the next phase.
- Concept Refinement Stage: During this phase of the project we further refinement the chosen concept. At this stage we engage in more detailed problem solving, with the goal of turning the concept into a further refined packaging solution that fulfils all your requirements. At this stage we will create more advanced packaging samples, and depending on the project we will use these to carry out first drop tests as well as shipping tests. Once we are happy with the design, we will meet up with you again to present you the refined concept. With your approval we move to the next stage.
- Detailing for Production: Once you have approved the design, we will get it ready for production. This step involves technical drawings, material considerations and sometimes it involves decision making about the most suitable production method. Depending on the type of project, during this phase you will deliver us your artwork files as well, so your packaging can be fully branded according to your wishes. Alternatively, we can also design the artwork for you.
Once the design is finalised, it is ready for production. We have a global network of production partners and depending on your location we can ensure local production. Our production team will get everything ready to ensure a smooth process.
Typically production takes between 4-6 weeks from the moment that your custom packaging solution has been designed.
The most exciting part: you get to hold your finished custom packaging solution in your hands and get to send it out to your customers. And luckily our collaboration won’t end there just yet.
We will remain in contact with you and provide continued support. If needed we can advise you on warehouse implementation and can even provide training to your warehouse staff.
